185 Leaders attend 2009 Parade of Queen Scouts

DSC00623
Our Scout Leader, Robbie Gibson, and Assistant Explorer Scout Leader, Douglas Mason both gained their Queen Scout Award last year. As a result, they were part of the group that represented Scottish Scouts at this year's Parade of Queen Scouts, held annually at Windsor Castle. The weather was fantastic, and the parade was quite a show. Also in attendance were the Chief Scout, Peter Duncan, and Major General Sir Michael Hobbs, who was representing the Queen.

Kandersteg Christmas Bag-pack

Our second bag-pack for the Kandersteg expedition will be taking place at Sainburys East Kilbride on 24th December.

Sainsbury’s is always a top fund-raising opportunity for us, so we hope for as much support from Scout, Cubs, Explorers and parents as possible.

Shifts will be of 2 hours each; 10 to 12, 12 to 2 and 2 to 4. Smart uniform is required and we ask you to wear your Scout cargo pants or kilt.

More details can be found here, and remember, you don’t have to be going to Kandersteg to help out.

Bag-packing success

Well done to everyone who helped out at the bag packing in Tesco on 1st November, we completely exceeded our expecactions and our Kandersteg funds have had a great start.

Please keep the 24th December 2008 free for the next bag pack at Sainsburys East Kilbride. More details to follow

Meggernie 08 - photos uploaded

We’ve just uploaded some cracking shots taken at the recent Meggernie outdoor weekend for Scouts and Explorers. There were 20 in total, taking part in gorge walking, river crossing, wide games, estate walk, Samba Di Amigo, night frisbee and lots more.

Take a look at the gallery for some great photos of another great Meggernie weekend.

Latest Summer camp documents now due for return

The letter of attendance and Permission to Camp forms are now available from the downloads pages. If you wish to attend this year’s summer camp at Hawkhirst, then please return both forms to either Robbie or Gordon.

See you at Hawkhirst!

Hawkhirst Summer Camp - July / August 08

“An Amazing Adventure”

For summer camp this year the Scout and Explorer Scout sections are going to Hawkhirst Scout camp. The camp will run from Saturday 26th July 08 to Saturday 02nd August 08, Hawkhirst is located near Kielder Water in Hexham.

Hawkhirst is a UK Scout national activities centre and has fantastic activities available from abseiling and climbing to sailing on Kielder water. The older Scouts and explorers will get the opportunity to take part in a one night canoeing expedition. This summer camp will also be an excellent team building opportunity in preparation for our Kandersteg summer camp adventure in 2010.

Leadership Swap for the new session

The Scout Leader and Explorer Scout leaders are swapping!

From the new session starting in August, Robbie will now be the Scout Leader, and Gordon will lead the Explorer Scouts.

Expect more leadership news soon.
