Latest from the Cub section

cu-al-ch
The cubs have been dead busy recently! They recently completed the Chef badge, and learned about kitchen hygiene, made the most delicious pizzas, some angel delight and fruit, and some chocolate crispie cakes. The Chefs badge is sponsored by Edam and the cubs got some Chefs hats to wear while they were cooking. Hopefully a couple of photos soon!

Moving outdoors, the cubs were at their Braveheart camp 15th-17th May at Bonaly along with the Cubs from the 150th, 186th and 3rd East Kilbride. They visited Edinburgh Castle, Arthurs Seat, and Pizza Hut. They also held Highland Games, a campfire and played games with the earth ball. Check out the photos in the Gallery.

Finally, the gang are looking forward to their trip to Loudoun Castle Theme Park with other Cubs from South East District on 7th June.

2008 Summer camp details announced

Great Tower logo
This year’s summer camp for Scouts and Explorers will be at Great Towers Scout camp from Saturday 1st to Saturday 8th August.

Great Towers is a Scout activity centre that has some fantastic activities available, from High rope courses to archery. This summer camp will be under canvas, and will include a sightseeing day visit to Keswick. This will also be an excellent team building opportunity in preparation for our Kandersteg summer camp adventure in 2010. Anyone who is attending Kandersteg and has not attended a week long summer camp should attend this one, it’s the last chance before 2010.

For more details, please see the information and interest letter on our downloads page.

185 Leaders attend 2009 Parade of Queen Scouts

DSC00623
Our Scout Leader, Robbie Gibson, and Assistant Explorer Scout Leader, Douglas Mason both gained their Queen Scout Award last year. As a result, they were part of the group that represented Scottish Scouts at this year's Parade of Queen Scouts, held annually at Windsor Castle. The weather was fantastic, and the parade was quite a show. Also in attendance were the Chief Scout, Peter Duncan, and Major General Sir Michael Hobbs, who was representing the Queen.

Switzerland fund-raising update

The recent fund-raising bagpack at Tesco raised another terrific amount. Well done to all those that participated.

The next big event is the Race Night at Cambuslang Rugby Club on May 16th. Doors open at 7:30 and tickets are priced at £6 a head for what promises to be a terrific night.

If you are a scout, then sold ticket sales must be returned to your section leader by May 8th. If require more tickets, then please see Robbie, or a member of the Kandersteg fund-raising team.
